The Macau government announced Monday that it would extend a daily limit of one round trip for land crossings between Macau and Zhuhai for a period of three months, from 1 February until 30 April 2023.
The daily limit for Zhuhai-Macau border-crossing passengers includes one round trip between Gongbei Port and Qingmao Port, while there is no limit on the number of trips through Hengqin Port or via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
The circular also states that “travel groups are designated to enter and exit through Hengqin Port and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Port.
“Cross-boundary truck drivers, emergency and critical care medical personnel, and funeral parlour transporters will be subject to list management and will be allowed to pass through the ports in accordance with the original regulations, with no limit on the number of entries and exits.”
The daily limit of one round trip between Macau and Zhuhai land boundary ports has been implemented since 9 August 2022 and extended three times in the past.
The Gongbei Port, also known as the Border Gate, is the most commonly used entry and exit point for tourists and local citizens. Of the 451,047 visitors who came to Macau during the Chinese New Year Golden Week from 21 to 27 January, 141,784 arrived via the Gongbei Port.
