SEVEN YEARS AFTER he was first appointed as Galaxy Entertainment Group’s Chief Operating Officer, Macau, Kevin Kelley has become part of the furniture at a company many see as the gold standard within Asia’s increasingly competitive casino industry.
And although the past three years has presented challenges unlike anything Kelley has come across in a career spanning more than 40 years, he continues to play a leading role in planning for better days ahead – leading Galaxy’s discussions with the Macau government around revisions to the gaming law late last year, then overseeing preparations for the company’s re-tender bid in recent months.
Next on the agenda will be ensuring a smooth launch for Galaxy Macau Phase 3 – the project essentially completed but awaiting a more meaningful return of customers to fill its new hotels, restaurants and gaming space.
Also in the works is Phase 4, which alongside Phase 3 will complement Galaxy Macau’s existing facilities with an additional eight new branded hotels, including Singapore’s famous Raffles, plus a hefty new convention center and more gaming, retail and F&B space.
In his past life, Kelley spent time as Senior Vice President of Operations at Las Vegas Sands Corp where he helped open The Venetian Macao. He also spent time with Golden Nugget, Station Casinos and Hard Rock International.
