MGM China
POWER SCORE: 576
POSITION LAST YEAR: 43
CLAIMS TO FAME
- A 10-year veteran at MGM China
- Part of pre-opening teams for The Venetian Macao and Marina Bay Sands
HUBERT WANG has been increasingly visible at MGM China since being promoted to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer following the retirement of CEO Grant Bowie in 2020.
Serving directly under Pansy Ho, Wang – formerly MGM China’s VP of Finance and CFO – is now a regular speaker on MGM’s quarterly earnings calls where he earlier this year outlined plans for the company to increase its focus on Macau’s premium mass market following the collapse of the junket industry.
No doubt such maneuvering will take all of Wang’s experience given the company’s traditional mass market leanings.
Tasked with overseeing Business Development, Casino Operations, Hospitality, Security and the Digital & Technology Solutions divisions for MGM China, Wang’s previous deployments have included time spent in the United States for Las Vegas Sands, Caesars Entertainment and Penn National. His career with Caesars, then known as Harrah’s, included riverboat development projects plus financing and M&A.
Upon joining LVS, he returned to Asia where he was part of the pre-opening teams on The Venetian Macao, opened in 2007, and Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, which opened in 2010. He joined MGM China in July 2011.
Wang holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Memphis and dual bachelor’s degrees in Industrial Management and English language from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
