Tekkorp Capital, the global gaming investment firm linked with a new sports betting venture in Australia, has expanded its advisory team with the addition of former Playtech and SG Digital executive Steve Schrier.
Established by gaming entrepreneur Matt Davey, Tekkorp – whose investment portfolio includes the likes of BetMakers, PlayUp, Betcha and Voxbet – only recently established its advisory team, which also includes former William Hill online CEO Crispin Nieboer, US media and gaming specialist Andy Clerkson, senior investment associate Martin Kostov and former PokerStars executive Tarvi Randve.
The company announced last week that it was partnering with media giant News Corp Australia and Sportsbet founder Matt Tripp to establish a new sports betting venture for the Australian market.
Schrier brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology and gaming sectors to Tekkorp, having been part of the team that built and sold Ash Gaming to Playtech in 2011. He also spent five years at Playtech as Head of Commercial before becoming Chief Commercial Officer of SG Digital and more recently running his own consultancy and advisory business.
“If Tekkorp Capital is to fully realize its potential as a key strategic player in the development of the global gaming sector then it’s essential we ensure we have the best possible mix of talents and experience,” said CEO Davey.
“Steve Schrier’s commercial know-how at the forefront of this industry gives us even more strength in depth.”
