The average occupancy rate of Macau’s hotels and guesthouses reached 48.7% in February, 10.3 percentage points higher year-on-year and slightly improved on the 44.0% rate reported in January.
Figures from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), which do not include hotels designated for COVID-19 quarantine purposes, show that 3-star hotels pushed upwards to an occupancy rate of 51.2%, with 4-star hotels at 49.6% and 5-star hotels at 49.2%.
The number of guests of hotel establishments increased by 29.3% year-on-year to 493,000 in February, of which 396,000 were from mainland China and 68,000 were local. The average length of stay of guests grew by 0.1 nights year-on-year to 1.8 nights.
For the first two months of 2022 combined, the average occupancy rate of guest rooms of hotel establishments was up by 6.8 percentage points year-on-year to 46.2%. The number of guests grew by 20.9% year-on-year to 1,007,000, and their average length of stay extended by 0.2 nights to 1.9 nights.
