All arrivals into Macau from Hong Kong will be directed to quarantine in a single quarantine facility, the Treasure Hotel, from this Friday 25 February 2022.
According to information from the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center, the new measure is in response to the latest COVID-19 developments in Hong Kong where daily case numbers have soared to over 8,000 per day.
Authorities said Thursday that anyone intending to enter Macau via Hong Kong will be required to use the Treasure Hotel for their compulsory medical quarantine. The hotel is designated for quarantine of people evaluated to be at high risk of having COVID-19.
The Treasure Hotel is located adjacent to the Golden Crown China hotel, immediately opposite the Macau International Airport entrance. The Treasure Hotel officially has 654 rooms, although distancing, operational and other requirements have likely reduced the number of available rooms substantially. IAG understands it is booked out until April 2022, effectively shutting out for at least the next two months any arrivals required to quarantine at the hotel.
There are currently four designated quarantine hotels in Macau, the other three being Regency Art Hotel, Grand Coloane Resort and Pousada Mariana Infante Hotel.
