Philippines gaming conglomerate Leisure & Resorts World Corp (LRWC) has donated around 600 relief packages containing food and hygiene essentials to families in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, who have been affected by Typhoon Odette.
The initiative has been spearheaded by by BingoPlus, described as the newest gaming arm of the Retail Group of LRWC, after the typhoon swept across the country in December.
According to media reports, Typhoon Odette impacted around 8 million people and displaced almost 200,000 from their homes, with 1.4 million homes damaged or destroyed.
LRWC said its assistance in Cebu is an important part of its corporate citizenship initiatives.
“By mobilizing employee-volunteers, LRWC brought the spirit of bayanihan to calamity victims as its … CSR efforts aim to spark hope and kindness during difficult times like this,” the company explained.
“Volunteers who lend their time in sourcing, packing, shipping and distributing the relief packages were staff from the Cebu branch of BingoPlus.”
LRWC is a diversified gaming company whose interests include bingo, leasing slot machines and the operation of slot arcades on behalf of PAGCOR.
It has also outlined plans to build a casino resort on Boracay.
