Macau recorded full year gross gaming revenue of MOP$86.86 billion (US$10.82 billion) in 2021, representing a 43.7% improvement on 2020 but down 70.3% compared with 2019, according to information from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
The final 2021 figure follows a strong finish to the year, with December GGR reaching MOP$7.96 billion (US$991.4 million) – up 1.8% year-on-year and 18.0% better than November.
It also highlights rising visitation since border restrictions between Macau and Zhuhai were eased on 19 October.
Macau’s Public Security Police Force last week reported more than 95,000 visitor arrivals from 24 to 26 December, including 40,284 on Friday 24 December – the third highest daily visitor tally of the year. It was also the first time since 1 May that visitor arrivals into Macau had topped 40,000.
