Crown Resorts has announced the official appointment of former telco executive Dr Ziggy Switkowski as its new Chairman after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals.
Dr Switkowski will replace interim chair Jane Halton in the role, with Halton – the only one of 11 Crown board members from a year ago still with the company – to remain on as an independent nonexecutive director.
He joins a number of other recent board appointees, including former SkyCity Entertainment Group directors Nigel Morrison and Bruce Carter.
Dr Switkowski said upon his initital appointment in August that he planned to “grow value for shareholders by continuing the urgent work to reform the business.”
Crown Resorts was earlier this year found unsuitable to retain its casino licenses for both Crown Sydney and Crown Melbourne. However, it avoided suspension of its Melbourne license subject to a two-year probation under the watch of a special manager, while the company continues to work with the NSW gaming regulator as it looks to open the casino at Crown Sydney.
