Galaxy Entertainment Group Vice Chairman Francis Lui has been named the most influential person in the Asian gaming industry for the third year in a row after topping IAG’s Asian Gaming Power 50 list for 2021.

The Asian Gaming Power 50 is Inside Asian Gaming’s annual list of the 50 most influential individuals in the industry across the Asia-Pacific region, as ranked by a panel of esteemed judges boasting decades of industry experience.

The 2021 Asian Gaming Power 50 was announced at a Black Tie Gala Dinner held in the Grand Theater, Wynn Palace on Friday night.

Lui’s success represents the third consecutive year he has topped the list and the fifth overall, having previously ranked number 1 in 2011 and 2012.

Galaxy Entertainment Group’s Francis Lui has topped the Asian Gaming Power 50 for the third consecutive year.

The January passing of Las Vegas Sands founder Sheldon Adelson, who had topped the Asian Gaming Power 50 seven times – in 2010 and from 2013 to 2018 – also saw significant movement in this year’s Top 10 with Melco Resorts & Entertainment Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho moving into second spot and Genting Berhad patriarch Lim Kok Thay reclaiming third spot, a position he last held in 2016.

MGM China Co-Chairperson and Managing Director Pansy Ho came in at number 4, just ahead of the man who has succeeded Adelson as Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO, Rob Goldstein.

There was also one new entrant to this year’s Top 10. The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges moved up five places this year to sit at number 9 after leading The HKJC to record turnover in the 2020/21 season – a year that saw most other industry organizations across the region suffer significant downturns.

New additions to the Top 50 in 2021 include Las Vegas Sands President and COO Patrick Dumont, Sportsbet CEO Barni Evans, SkyCity Entertainment’s Michael Ahearne, Marina Bay Sands COO Paul Town, MGM China duo Hubert Wang and Kenneth Feng, and the new CEO of Korea’s Kangwon Land, Lee Sam-geol.

First published by IAG in 2008, the Asian Gaming Power 50 has become renowned as the definitive guide to the most influential people in the Asian gaming industry.

Wynn Palace was Venue Sponsor of this year’s Asian Gaming Power 50 Gala Dinner, with Suncity Group the Diamond Sponsor, Bloomberry Resorts Corp and Solaire Resort & Casino the Official Welcome Cocktails Sponsors, Bobadilla Group Macau the Official After Party Title Sponsor and BGM Rigging Services the Entertainment Sponsor.

ANGEL Group, Aristocrat, IGT and Scientific Games were Platinum Sponsors, while Galaxy Entertainment Group, Macau Slot, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, MGM, Sands China and SJM Resorts, S.A. were Gold Sponsors.

Inside Asian Gaming thanks all our sponsors for their support.

The 15th Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner will take place in Macau on Friday 4 November 2022. For more information visit www.iagpower50.com.
