The AGEM Index reached an all-time high of 1,012.89 points in August, rising 9.5% over July, buoyed by positive contributions from slot machine giants Aristocrat Leisure Limited, Scientific Games Corporation and Konami Corp.
It also represented a 109.9% increase over August 2020 when the AGEM Index was at 530.38 points.
The AGEM Index, compiled by the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM), is a monthly stock performance guide comprising 12 global gaming suppliers. It is calculated based on the month-end stock price of each company and weighted based on approximation of market capitalization.
Only two of the 12 member suppliers saw their stock prices head south in August, with 10 companies notching gains – led by Aristocrat.
The Australian slot machine supplier saw its price grow 9.7% to AU$45.67, contributing 26.73 points to the AGEM Index’s monthly growth. Scientific Games contributed 21.45 points with a 17.2% stock price increase and Konami added 21.64 points due to a 14.7% rise in stock price.
Galaxy Gaming Inc and Transact Technologies were the two to suffer declines.
The major stock indices also performed well over the month with NASDAQ and the S&P 500 up 4.5% and 3.2% respectively, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average grew by 1.2%.
