Sands China Ltd says more than 10,000 employees and their family members have now been vaccinated against COVID-19 or are registered to do so following its latest round of vaccination sessions at The Venetian Macao.

The sessions, held from 5 to 8 July, were held in conjunction with Macau’s Health Bureau with the goal of helping the SAR reach herd immunity against the virus.

Dr Tai Wai Hou, clinical director of the public Conde S. Januário Hospital Centre, has also been invited to return to The Venetian Macao on 30 June to conduct a second seminar for team members after a successful first seminar in May, the company said.

The two seminars, titled “COVID-19 Vaccine: Path to End the Pandemic”, attracted more than 600 participants to learn about vaccination safety and how to make informed decisions about the available COVID-19 vaccines. A video clip from the seminar is currently being shown on screens throughout Sands China properties’ back-of-house areas.

“We each have a responsibility to support efforts to achieve herd immunity via community-wide vaccination, and I’m very proud that Sands China is doing its part to help make that happen,” said Sands China President Dr Wilfred Wong, who was vaccinated on Monday.

“Our thanks go to the Macao SAR government for their continued leadership during the pandemic – where Macao has recorded no new local COVID-19 cases for more than 460 days – and to the Health Bureau for their collaboration again on our seminars and vaccination sessions.”
