Russian authorities have announced plans for a US$70 million indoor waterpark and entertainment complex to be built on Russky Island in Vladivostok.
According to details released Monday, project initiator Eastern Aqua Paradise LLC and VEB Engineering LLC signed a cooperation agreement last week to develop the Aquaparadise center, comprising an indoor year-round water park, shopping and entertainment area, sports and recreation complex and a four-star hotel. The Novotel-branded hotel, including a spa and fitness areas, business centers and restaurants, will be operated by the Accor Group.
There will also be a park with walking and bike paths plus equipment for outdoor sports, with the total development cost coming in at 5.1 billion rubles (US$70.7 million).
“I am confident that Aquaparadise will become the pearl of the seaside capital, which will push the weather and seasonal boundaries for all lovers of water and sports entertainment,” said Minister for Economic Development in Primorye, Natalya Naboychenko.
“There is no doubt that the project of the Aquaparadise complex has significant social potential [and] with its implementation the seaside capital will finally meet global trends. The initiative is included in the list of priority projects under the special control of the Governor of the Primorsky Territory, and the participation of such partners as VEB Group and Accor Group of Companies inspires particular confidence in its success.”
The Primorye Economic Zone, targeted to become a regional tourism hub, is already home to two casino-resorts in Tigre de Cristal and Shambhala, while two more development by NagaCorp and Diamond Fortune are due to open by 2022.
