South Korean foreigner-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has extended the closure period of its Seoul casinos, Gangnam COEX and Gangbuk, Millenium Seoul Hilton, until 9am on 1 March.
The extension, which comes despite the government this week lowering the COVID-19 alert level for the Greater Seoul area from Level 2.5 to Level 2, pushed the closure period past three months after both properties originally shut their doors on 24 November.
GKL did not mention any extension to the closure period of its third casino, Seven Luck Casino in Busan Lotte, which closed on 1 December. Casinos outside of the Greater Seoul region are now permitted to reopen with the Alert Level dropping from Level 2 to Level 1.5.
Despite alert levels dropping, the number of new COVID-19 infections grew on Tuesday to 429 – the first time in almost two weeks that infections have surpassed 400.
