New Zealand’s SkyCity Entertainment Group has closed its flagship Auckland casino for three days in response to the latest outbreak of COVID-19 in the nation’s latest COVID outbreak.
The New Zealand government announced Monday that it would raise the alert level to Level 3 in Auckland and Level 2 for the rest of the country after three new cases of the UK variant of COVID-19 were detected in a family on Sunday.
The precautionary measures will see SkyCity shut down the casino and other entertainment facilities at SkyCity Auckland from Tuesday to Thursday, while physical distancing and extra hygiene measures will be implemented at properties in Hamilton and Queenstown.
It represents the third time SkyCity has been forced to close its Auckland casino since the start of the pandemic early last year.
