Sands China Ltd has established memorial areas for the company’s founder, Sheldon Adelson, at The Venetian Macao and Sands Macao following his passing last week.
As per a memo sent late last week, the memorial area at The Venetian Macao is located in the property’s Level 3 Ballroom and will be open for the public to pay their respects from 7am until 9pm from 16 to 24 January.
The Sands Macao memorial will be open from 20 to 26 January.
Adelson passed away last Monday 11 January (Las Vegas time) at the age of 87 from complications related to treatment for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He had taken a medical leave of absence from his roles as Chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands and Sands China only days earlier.
LVS said in a statement following his passing that “Adelson’s achievements in the integrated resort and hospitality industry are well-documented. In Las Vegas, Macau and Singapore, Mr Adelson’s vision for integrated resorts transformed the industry, changed the trajectory of the company he founded, and reimagined tourism in each of those markets. His impact on the industry will be everlasting.”
