A total of 66 SJM staff members were awarded certificates at a ceremony at Grand Lisboa on Thursday after completing a Proficiency Certificate Course titled “Sustainable Development in Macau Tourism, Leisure, Entertainment – Responsible Gaming.”
The course was offered in cooperation with the Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development. It is part of SJM’s recently launched series of activities based on the theme of the Macau SAR Government’s responsible gaming promotions this year, themed “Lost Control, Lose Family.”
An online competition, “Responsible Gaming Off-Duty Casino Entry Ban,” was held to deepen staff members’ understanding of the new legislation, attracting over 2,500 staff members to participate.
In addition, SJM launched a series of family-based RG games and activities around the “Lost Control, Lose Family” theme including “The Maze Planner – Responsible Gaming Financial Planning for Family” and “Your Family Duty – RG Funfair”, aiming to prevent gaming disorders by passing the concept of prudent financial management to the young generation through communication and interactive games between parents and their children.
Ms Angela Leong, Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, said in her speech that SJM, as a stakeholder in society, fully supports the Macau SAR Government in promoting responsible gaming.
She said she hoped that through education and promotional activities, SJM could help spread the important message of responsible gambling to the public, combining efforts in building a sustainable city which is prosperous, harmonious and healthy.
