Wynn Resorts has announced the appointment of entertainment, media and sports expert Darnell Strom as a new independent member of the Board of Directors.
Strom – who previously worked in politics as Deputy Director for former President Bill Clinton, with Senator John Kerry’s Presidential Campaign and as President Barack Obama’s White House Entertainment Council – represents the seventh new appointment to a refreshed Wynn Resorts board since 2018. His appointment became effective from 14 October 2020.
In a statement sent early Tuesday (Asia time), Wynn said Strom’s “decades of experience in entertainment, media and sports, along with the relationships he has established, will be a significant benefit to the Company.”
Strom is currently a Partner and Head of the Culture and Leadership Division at leading global talent and entertainment company United Talent Agency, where he leads the agency’s efforts to expand the cultural and business influence across platforms for its top clients in media, sports, entertainment, music, fashion, the arts, branding and thought leadership.
He was previously an agent at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) where he set strategy and developed relationships for major clients, including individual artists as well as top brands, across multiple platforms, including television, motion pictures, publishing, digital communications, and technology.
Strom also worked as an executive at the CAA Foundation where he advised artists and large corporations on their philanthropic and pro-social initiatives.
Wynn Resorts appointed three female members – Betsy Atkins, Dee Dee Myers and Wendy Webb – to its board, as well as former Harrah’s boss Phil Satre as Chairman, in 2018 in the wake of the Steve Wynn sexual harassment scandal.
