Oshidori International Holdings Limited, one of three companies planning a bid to develop an integrated resort in Nagasaki, has pledged US$200,000 to support flood relief efforts in the prefecture.
The donation, provided directly to Akai Hane – Nagasaki Community Chest Association & Social Welfare Corporation, comes after officials issued evacuation orders to residents in certain parts of the prefecture, including Sasebo City, due to the severity of heavy torrential rain.
Akai Hane will assist Oshidori to evenly allocate the donation amount to Sasebo City and Nagasaki Prefecture, with the company stating its intention to benefit natural disaster relief, education and the general welfare of people in Nagasaki and Sasebo City.
The donation was made possible through the Kyushu Oshidori Children’s Foundation, a charitable non-profit foundation established by Oshidori last year with an initial donation of approximately 20% of the share capital of Oshidori International Holdings Limited. The Foundation was established to support of children and youth of all ages in the Kyushu region.
“Oshidori believes that philanthropy is a vital part of the social responsibility of all corporate citizens,” said Oshidori’s Chairman and CEO Alex Yemenidjian, who joined the company last month in order to accelerate its IR bid.
“I hope that our donation will help all the affected families to have a speedy return to normal conditions.”
