The city of Yokohama has canceled briefings on the implementation policy draft that would establish the requirements for an IR, originally scheduled by the city council for 30 June.
Sankei Biz reports that this is based on the delay in formulation of the national government’s basic policy, which will set the selection criteria for IR candidate areas.
The city announced in April that it would postpone the announcement of its implementation policy from June to August. The city also announced it would explain the facility’s requirements and concept policies at the end of the June city council meeting, but the country’s basic policy has still not been determined.
According to city officials, the contents of the basic policy must be understood before the city’s policy is determined.
Mayor Fumiko Hayashi stated at the city council meeting on 26 June, “It will be a catalyst for long-term economic growth,” emphasizing her willingness to promote an IR bid.
