Galaxy Entertainment Group Chairman Lui Che Woo has expressed his condolences following the passing of Dr Stanley Ho, renowned as the father of modern Macau, at the age of 98.
As reported by Inside Asian Gaming, Dr Ho passed away early Tuesday afternoon at Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital after a long battle with illness.
In a statement, Lui expressed his great respect for Dr Ho and praised his record as a successful entrepreneur who was successful in both politics and business for decades.
Lui added that he was inspired by Dr Ho, who had remained a close friend over the years.
“When the Macau government liberalized the gaming industry, Ho understood this act would benefit Macau greatly and he selflessly shared his success and support to the Macau government, to introduce a modernized management model to make Macau’s entertainment industry become so prominent internationally,” Lui said.
“The reason why Macau has surpassed Las Vegas is that Stanley Ho has made a number of contributions.”
