All work-at-height activities at the construction site of Galaxy Macau Phase 3 remain prohibited a month after a fatal accident that saw three workers lose their lives.
As reported by Inside Asian Gaming, three workers were killed and four more injured after scaffolding collapsed while they were clearing out trash from an elevator in late March.
The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) immediately issued a suspension order to stop all scaffolding and work-at height activities.
DSAL confirmed to Inside Asian Gaming in a statement on Friday that the suspension order is still valid until the responsible entities submit additional information on relevant safety improvement measures.
The Bureau will also review all rectification work and ensure safety conditions are comprehensively implemented before approving the resumption of construction.
Galaxy Entertainment Group issued a statement at the time in which it said it “has taken all necessary actions and fully cooperated with the authorities to carry out rescue work and investigation.
“Galaxy Entertainment has tasked the contractor to conduct a thorough review of all safety measures on the construction site and ensure all related rules and regulations are strictly abided by all relevant parties,” it said.
