Officials from the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) expect the Sheraton Grand Macao and two other hotels will continue to be used as quarantine venues until the end of April.
As of Sunday 19 April, a total of 215 people were still undergoing a 14-day medical quarantine in one of the three remaining hotels, which also include Pousada Marina Infante and Golden Crown China Hotel.
Around 500 rooms of Sheraton Grand Macao were set aside for quarantine purposes on 28 March.
In another sign that life is gradually returning to normal in Macau, the government has decided to re-open schools in phases from 4 May. High-school education will resume on 4 May while middle-school education will start one week later from 11 May.
Classes of primary schools and kindergartens will remain suspended until further notice, pending further development of the epidemic. All schools in Macau have been suspended since the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday in late January.
Authorities also revealed on Sunday that just 25 COVID-19 patients remain in hospital, with 20 people having now recovered and been released.
