The re-tendering process for Macau gaming licenses is expected to be among the key topics discussed when Macau Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng presents his first policy address next Monday 20 April.
Ho will present to the plenary session at the Legislative Assembly (AL) at 3pm on Monday where he will outline the general policy goals of the new SAR government over the next five years, after which he will hold a press conference at Government Headquarters. He will then return to the AL plenary session to answer questions from legislators on 21 April.
The Secretaries for the five secretariats – Administration and Justice, Economy and Finance, Security, Social Affairs and Culture and Transport and Public Works – will each present to the AL plenary session between 24 April and 6 May.
With Macau’s gaming concessions all set to expire in 2022, it is expected that Ho will reveal some long-awaited details regarding the license re-tendering process, including a general timeline for implementation.
The Chief Executive of the Macau SAR historically delivers their annual policy address each November, however an additional address is required whenever a new government is formed.
Ho was sworn in as Chief Executive on 20 December 2019, replacing Fernando Chui Sai On.
