The number of hotels being utilized as quarantine venues in Macau fell to just four on Monday, with Sheraton Grand Macao, Pousada Marina Infante Hotel, Golden Crown China Hotel and Jai Alai Hotel still in use.
Grand Lapa, Grand Harbour Hotel and Royal Dragon Hotel are the latest to have farewelled their final quarantine guests and will now resume normal operations following cleaning and sanitization.
As a result, the number of people remaining in mandatory 14-day medical observation after returning to Macau within the past two weeks has fallen to just 753, with 513 local residents among them. The rest are non-resident workers from China.
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said it expects more hotels to be removed from the quarantine venue list in the coming days, however the government will also reserve a few hotels for future use in case they are required. Officials have not yet revealed which hotels will be reserved.
The reduction in quarantine hotels comes as three patients who had previously tested positive to COVID-19 were cleared and discharged from hospital, meaning a total of 13 people have now recovered from the virus in Macau. Another 32 remain in hospital.
The number of confirmed cases in Macau has now held steady at 45 for the past five days.
