A 26-year-old South Korean non-resident worker was confirmed to be carrying COVID-19 on Sunday as Macau’s first confirmed case in over a month pushed the SAR’s tally to 11.
According to a government announcement, the patient visited Porto in Portugal on 30 January before flying back to Hong Kong on 13 March via Dubai. She then returned to Macau on 14 March via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and started showing symptoms.
The patient’s Portuguese boyfriend is classified as having been in close contact and the health authority is also checking others the patient may have been in contact with.
It is the first confirmed case of coronavirus in Macau since 4 February, the same day the government announced an unprecedented closure of all casinos and gaming operations for 15 days.
