Sands China has announced the closure of three of its hotels on Macau’s Cotai strip due to a massive decline in bookings over the past fortnight.
With the city’s casino floors now shut down for 15 days upon order of the Macau SAR Government, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) revealed on Thursday that Sands trio of Four Seasons Hotel, St. Regis Hotel and Conrad Hotel will temporarily suspend operations from Friday 7 February.
The hotels have a combined 1,459 rooms, comprising 409 rooms in Four Seasons, 400 rooms in St. Regis and 650 rooms in Conrad.
The MGTO stated in its announcement that Sands opted to close the hotels based on “business concerns” given the recent dip in visitor numbers resulting from broad entry restrictions into the SAR combined with the more recent suspension of all gaming activities. There was no mention of how long they will remain closed.
