Macau International Airport (MIA) has revealed it will add 120 extra flights to its normal services during the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday period as it prepares for one of its busiest periods of the year.
Airport authorities issued an announcement this week in which they revealed the addition of extra flights, which will primarily travel to and from Bangkok, Hangzhou, Changzhou, Nanjing, Taipei, Kaohsiung and Da Nang.
MIA said it is expecting a 5.9% increase in passengers compared with CNY 2019, with the number of passengers passing through estimated at around 716,000 or 35,000 each day. The airport will handle more than 4,834 aircraft movements at 240 per day, it added.
“MIA attaches great importance to flight operations in the CNY period,” authorities said. “An airport operation meeting has been held to coordinate arrangements with airlines and airport entities, and to provide operational data in advance.”
