Suncity Group CEO Alvin Chau has donated RMB 20 million (US$2.9 million) to the China Foundation for Disabled Persons during launch celebrations for the charity organization’s “Ji Shan Fu Pin Jian Kang Xing” campaign in Macau.
“Ji Shan Fu Pin Jian Kang Xing” aims to alleviate poverty and improve health in China by providing free medical aids and treatments for impoverished families, such as cataract surgery, orthopedic surgery for joints and bones, rehabilitation services for children with Autism and more. Since 2016, the campaign has been successfully launched in Tibet, Xinjiang, Ningxia, Guangxi, Guizhou, Gansu, Qinghai, Yunnan and other provinces.
At a presentation ceremony on Monday, Chau presented a check for RMB 20 million before being appointed as a committee member of China Foundation for Disabled Persons in recognition and appreciation of his efforts to China’s charity business.
“Being a Macau resident, it is our duty to do something for our motherland China,” Chau said. “Suncity Group and myself will take the responsibility of helping disabled people and spare no efforts to support the development of the cause of disabled people in Mainland China.”
Suncity Group said that the donation of RMB 20 million will go towards helping people in deeply impoverished areas of 14 provinces in western China, and specifically towards alleviating the problem of “entering and returning to poverty because of illness.”
