DEPUTY CEO & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Genting Berhad

DEPUTY CEO & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Genting Malaysia

DEPUTY CEO & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Genting Hong Kong

POWER SCORE: 910
POSITION LAST YEAR: NONE

CLAIMS TO FAME
• In line to eventually take over control of Genting Group from father Lim Kok Thay
• Elevated to leadership positions in three Genting companies in 2019

Continuing a family tradition dating back to 1965 when his grandfather, Lim Goh Tong, first founded Genting Group, 35-year-old Lim Keong Hui now finds himself well on his way to assuming the mantle of company leader, just as his father Lim Kok Thay did in 2003.

The succession plan kicked into gear in January when the younger Lim was appointed Deputy CEO of Malaysian-listed Genting Bhd, Genting Malaysia Bhd and Genting Plantations Bhd. In March, he took on the same role at Genting Hong Kong, Genting Group’s casino cruise ship arm and joint venture partner in Philippines IR Resorts World Manila.

That leaves only Genting Singapore, operator of Resorts World Sentosa, as the last remaining subsidiary over which Lim Keong Hui is yet to hold any sway. Nevertheless, he is being ushered into the upper echelons of the family business at a hectic time, with Genting Berhad currently developing the US$4 billion Resorts World Las Vegas while overseeing developments across its vast global empire.

Genting Malaysia is in the midst of a US$2.3 billion capital reinvestment program at its flagship Malaysian IR, Resorts World Genting, aimed at boosting both local and international visitation while it is also embroiled in complicated dealings in the United States relating to the acquisition of a 49% stake in loss-making New York casino Resorts World Catskills via the family trust.

At least Lim has known of his future plans for some time now, having first joined the company more than a decade ago and sitting on the parent company board since 2003.
