Melco Resorts & Entertainment will open its Yokohama office in November after securing a space at Ocean Gate Minato Mirai, overlooking Tokyo Bay and nearby the planned location for an integrated resort, Yamashita Wharf.
The Hong Kong-based IR operator first revealed plans to open a new office in Yokohama in early September, shortly before pulling out of the IR race in Osaka and announcing its “Yokohama First” policy.
“Yokohama First means that the incredible team of experts and talents we have assembled will focus on bringing to Yokohama the best IR the world has ever seen,” said Melco Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho at the time.
“Our team is well-positioned to contribute to Yokohama’s future and to support the community in its ambition to become a global tourism destination. This is a commitment to the city, our partners and the community there.”
In July, the company signed a sponsorship agreement with J1 League football club Yokohama F. Marinos.
