Yokohama mayor Fumiko Hayashi has announced a series of policy sessions to be held in all 18 wards of the city aimed at educating residents on the details of Yokohama’s planned IR bid.
As reported by the Nikkei, the sessions will primarily see Hayashi attempt to gain understanding in the face of strong opposition from locals. The mayor has pledged to attend every session.
In addition to the national government’s system regarding IR, the sessions will also explain issues such as current issues facing Yokohama, problem gambling countermeasures and the expected economic effects from the introduction of an IR. Hayashi says six sessions will be held in December, continuing into 2020 and beyond.
Dates and locations are yet to be confirmed.
