The Japanese entity of China’s largest communication device corporation, Huawei, has joined the Kansai Economic Federation.
As reported by The Mainichi, Huawei is aiming to strengthen its relations with the Kansai Economic Federation with its eye on the 2025 World Expo in Osaka and business related to the prefecture’s IR bid.
According to the Kansai Economic Federation, the company’s joining was decided in March of this year. Other members include the likes of Amazon and Fedex out of the US, the Japanese entity of Nestle, based in Switzerland, and dozens of other Japanese entities of foreign-owned businesses, including Macau IR operator Melco Resorts and Entertainment.
Huawei is the first mainland China entity to join the Kansai Economic Federation. It established its Japanese entity in 2005 and also became the first mainland China entity to join the Keidanren in November.
