Melco Resorts & Entertainment has announced a new deal that will see it sponsor J1 League team Yokohama F-Marinos.
The Marinos uniform will now feature a Melco Resorts logo on the clavicle and the company will cooperate in hosting events in conjunction with the club in future. Melco, which has been one of the more active global gaming operators when it comes to promoting its Japanese IR intentions, is working to improve brand awareness in Japan and gain momentum in its bid for an IR license.
Yokohama, the home city of F-Marinos, is yet to declare its IR intentions but is viewed as a potentially strong candidate should it pursue a bid.
Melco Resorts & Entertainment CEO Lawrence Ho spoke highly of the team at a press event, stating, “Marinos are a club with an established 21st-century style of play. We can share values and culture.”
About Yokohama Ho said, “Yokohama is an extremely convenient location, close to Haneda Airport and Tokyo. It is certainly an appealing accommodation site for those visiting Japan for entertainment and MICE.”
