Mayor Kikuo Sugimoto of Shizuoka Prefecture’s Makinohara, which is planning an IR bid, has indicated he has the understanding of the Hagima district to designate the candidate site as the Oyori area.
As reported by local media this week, he recently responded to a question at the scheduled municipal assembly by stating, “I explained to the district council and there were no objections. I think they understand.”
According to the city, the candidate site is approximately 160 hectares of vacant land along the Route 473 Bypass.
Around 10 years ago, the local council requested the cooperation of landowners and residents to bring the site into use. The city explained their thinking toward Oyori as the candidate site to 15 representatives from the areas that make up the Hagima district at a district assembly in March.
This followed the city expressing its intention for an IR bid at the end of January. Briefings for the residents of Hagima district have not yet been held.
