The President of MGM Resorts Japan, Jason Hyland, has released a book titled “Japan will change with IRs (Integrated Resorts)”
Available in bookstores across the country at a retail price of JPY864 (US$8), it explores the history of the global IR industry and the impact IRs will have on the Japanese economy.
Hyland has lived in Japan for 15 years, having held the positions of Charge d’Affaires at the United States Embassy Tokyo and Deputy Chief of Mission at US Mission Japan where he supervised more than 700 employees, five consulates and a language school, engaging daily with the most senior officials in government, business and academia.
In the book, he applies his wealth of experience to discuss the strengths of Japanese culture that can be communicated to the world via IRs. He also explains in detail the fact that an IR is much more than a casino, offering a platform for a wide range of industries, including tourism, MICE and entertainment, and examines the impact a domestic Japanese IR industry will have on local society and industry.
