Macau International Airport (MIA) recorded its busiest ever month in April 2019, hitting 800,000 passenger movements and 6,400 aircraft movements for the first time.
The numbers represented 19% and 21% increases respectively over April 2018 traffic, buoyed by a 31% increase in passenger movements to more than 120,000 during the four-day Easter holiday.
By market, Mainland China, Southeast Asia and Taiwan recorded passenger increases of 33%, 13% and 12% respectively compared to same period last year.
The April figures push MIA’s passenger movements for the first four months of 2019 to 3.1 million – a 17% year-on-year increase – with 24,000 flights arriving and departing in that time.
That works out to around 1,500 flights per week with MIA currently connected to 28 airlines and 55 cities around the world.
