MGM Cotai has finally opened its long-waited luxury VIP accommodation, The Mansion.
MGM Resorts International Chairman and CEO Jim Murren revealed during an interview with Bloomberg that The Mansion came on-line on Thursday – roughly nine months after originally planned – following a series of development delays. The company had previously aimed to bring the enclave online before Chinese New Year.
“Today we opened the Mansion which is our final word in luxury accommodations at our MGM Cotai property,” Murren said.
“We’ve invested US$3.5 billion through our MGM China company and the profits are starting to ramp up there as we are developing our VIP business.”
Murren also expressed his confidence in the future of Macau’s VIP market, adding, “The VIP business has been stronger than I expected it to be and we can be the beneficiary of that now that we have this room product in the Mansion.”
The Mansion, hidden away within MGM Cotai, features 27 ultra-luxury villas ranging in size from 215 to 570 square meters each.
