Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A., better known as SJM, has become the latest concessionaire to announce a salary increase for its staff with eligible employees set to see their wages rise by between 2.5% and 8.3%.
The increase, effective from 1 April 2019, will see eligible employees whose monthly salary is less than MOP$16,000 enjoy a pay increase of MOP$600, equivalent to an increase of 3.7% to 8.3%, while employees with a monthly salary of MOP$16,000 or above will enjoy a pay increase of 2.5%.
Fellow Macau IR operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment recently announced a similar pay increase of between 2.5% and 7.5% for its employees, which will also come into effect from 1 April.
In its announcement, SJM said that it will create more than 8,000 new jobs when its Cotai integrated resort, Grand Lisboa Palace, opens in the next 12 months. The company has previously stated that construction of Grand Lisboa Palace will be completed before the end of 2019.
