Pachinko hall operator Vegas Vegas has emerged as an unlikely Japanese IR candidate after launching its second Vietnamese casino in Hanoi on Monday.
Hollywood One Gaming Club, located below ground level in Hotel de l’Opera, offers a range of casino games including baccarat, blackjack, roulette and sic bo as well as slot machines. Staff reportedly speak four languages – Japanese, English, Korean and Mandarin.
According to CEO Hideyuki Takahashi, Vegas Vegas plans to open a total of 10 small casinos across Vietnam over the next five years with the aim of building up know-how and experience in anticipation of IRs opening in Japan.
The company’s first operation, opened in December 2017, is located in Ha Long City in QuảngNinh province. Takahashi said the Ha Long customer base comprises 30% Chinese customers, 30% Korean, 20% Southeast Asian plus a mix of other nationalities.
