Global slot machine giant Aristocrat has revealed that it is being sued in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington in relation to its social media subsidiary Big Fish Games, Inc.
The lawsuit, filed by an individual named Manasa Thimmegowda against Big Fish Games, Inc,
Aristocrat Technologies Inc, Aristocrat Leisure Limited and Churchill Downs Incorporated, alleges Big Fish Games – a global publisher of free-to-play games – breaks Washington law by offering games of chance to the general public.
Aristocrat said on Tuesday that it “intends to vigorously defend the action.”
The company acquired Big Fish Games in January 2018 for US$990 million, with CEO and Managing Director Trevor Croker stating at the time that “the strategic and financial benefits of the acquisition are highly compelling. Big Fish will immediately provide scale across our entire digital platform and our social casino business will become the second largest social casino publisher globally.”
