Macau’s Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) has approved 198 extra commercial and charter flights to and from Macau Airport for next week’s Chinese New Year.
The increased capacity includes 151 flights to and from mainland China – namely Shanghai, Wanzhou, Chengdu, Changzhou, Zhengzhou and Shenzhen – plus 25 extra flights from Taiwan, 10 from Vietnam, eight from Thailand and four from Japan.
According to the AACM, the extra flights, operated by Air Macau, Juneyao Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and East Asia Airlines, began on 21 January 2019 and will continue until 28 February.
The number of additional flights to come and go from Macau for the 2019 Chinese New Year will represent a 150% increase over the number in 2018 when the AACM approved a total of 80 extra commercial and charter flights.
