Macau has enjoyed a strong start to Golden Week with the number of arrivals growing by 18.4% year-on-year to 131,971 on the opening day, according to figures from the Public Security Police Force.
That figure includes a 35.5% increase in arrivals from mainland China to 111,643, representing almost 85% of the total.
Not surprisingly, 83,713 of the total arrivals into Macau on Monday came via the border gate, with another 19,032 entering via the Cotai checkpoint. Another 21,721 arrived by sea at one of the city’s two ferry terminals, while 7,470 flew into Macau International Airport.
Golden Week officially began on China’s National Day on Monday and runs for seven days through until this Sunday 7 October.
