Genting Cruise Lines has announced that SuperStar Gemini, a member of its Star Cruises fleet of casino cruise ships, will make Malaysia its home base for six months from 5 November 2018 to 28 April 2019.

SuperStar Gemini will homeport in Port Klang, Penang and Langkawi – along with Phuket in Thailand – focusing on destinations around the Straits of Malacca.

The company said that the ship’s Malaysia deployment further reinforces Genting Cruise Lines’ ongoing commitment in growing Malaysia’s cruise industry.

“Genting Cruise Lines has a long history in this part of Southeast Asia and we are excited to be making Malaysia SuperStar Gemini’s new home in November 2018 to carry on the legacy of SuperStar Libra which recently retired from active duty from the Star Cruises fleet,” said Genting Cruise Lines President, Kent Zhu. “As a home-grown cruise company with deep roots in the region, Genting Cruise Lines continues to be committed in promoting the growth of the cruise industry in Asia and we are looking forward to strengthening our relationships with the countries and destinations that will be part of our exciting new itineraries.”

The upcoming deployment will see Star Cruises introduce a number of new round-trip voyages through the region, taking in various stops in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore and including two-night, three-night and four-night journeys.
