The World Poker Tour (WPT) has announced the first ever WPT Vietnam, to be held at Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh from 26 September to 4 October 2018.
The new WPT Vietnam forms part of the tour’s expanded Asia-Pacific itinerary following the recently revealed WPT Japan and WPT Korea events and the inaugural WPT New Zealand festival last month. It will also join Japan and Korea in what the WPT is calling an “Asia Swing” for Asian players with the three events all taking place within a 20-day period.
“Japan, Korea, and Vietnam are three incredible destinations for traveling players, filled with vibrant sights, rich tradition, exotic culinary delights, and a tremendous appetite for poker,” said WPT Live Events Specialist Danny McDonagh.
WPT Vietnam will feature a VND22 million (US$1,000) buy-in Main Event running from 28 September to 2 October 2018, with a VND8 billion (US$345,000) guarantee.
It follows immediately after WPT Japan, taking place from 15 to 17 September in Tokyo, and WPT Korea from 18 to 24 September 18-24 at Paradise City Casino in Incheon, South Korea.
In a unique effort to help players go from event to event during the Asia Swing, players that participate in WPT Japan will have the opportunity to compete in the opening stages of the WPT Korea Main Event. Players at WPT Japan can play the first stage of WPT Korea starting in Japan, with those who advance joining the next stage of the WPT Korea Main Event at Paradise City.
