Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has held its annual blood donation event in conjunction with the Macao Blood Transfusion Center under the Health Bureau for the 10th consecutive year. During the event, GEG set up blood donation booths at its properties and encouraged its team members to donate blood.
Since 2009, upwards of 1,400 team members have participated in GEG’s annual blood donation event, the company said. The 2018 GEG Blood Donation Day took place at Galaxy Macau on Tuesday 9 July and at StarWorld Hotel on Wednesday 10 July.
GEG Vice Chairman Francis Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration Eileen Lui and Chief Operating Officer Kevin Kelley attended the event to express their support and heartfelt appreciation for the team members’ contributions to a meaningful cause.
The two days also saw many long-term, repeat donors. Among them was Henry Chan, who works in the Design and Development Department. He has participated in the annual event for eight straight years. Chan said, “Since blood donation is a meaningful cause, I am sure to come support this event every year. Although it’s a small contribution, I will still do my utmost to help those in need.”
Each year, the blood donation venues are nicely decorated and comfortable, thanks to the efforts of the GEG Staff Social Club. Additionally, members of the Food and Beverage Department prepare refreshments for the donors, and each donor is given a photograph that captures the moment he or she donates blood. As part of a drive to support the local cultural and creative sector, all donors this year received a handcrafted luggage tag made by members of the Fu Hong Society of Macau to mark this special occasion.
