The total number of people employed by the gaming and junket industries in Macau increased 1.5% to 82,600 in the March to May period when compared with February to April, according to the latest employment survey by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
The February to April period had seen 81,400 employed in the sector.
The increase in gaming industry employment came as the overall unemployment rate in Macau fell to just 1.8% between March and May, down from 1.9% in the prior period and from 2.0% in March to May 2017.
In total, the recreational, cultural and gaming industries comprised 24.6 % of all employees, up two percentage points, with hotels and restaurants comprising 14.9%.
