The Macau government raised MOP$35.5 billion in direct gaming taxes through the first four months of the year, an 18.0% increase over the same period in 2017 according to latest figures from the Financial Services Bureau.
The taxes include MOP$11.9 billion in April, up 28.0% on April 2017, with the four-month total comprising 87.7% of all revenue brought in by the government between January and April 2018. Total government revenue for the period was MOP$42.5 billion.
The public surplus now sits at MOP$22.2 billion, up 30.3% over the same time last year and representing 321% of the government’s 2018 surplus budget.
