Over 1.1 million guests stayed at hotels and guesthouses in Macau in April, up 7.6% year-on-year, with an average occupancy rate of 88.9%. The figures included a 91.9% occupancy rate in Macau’s 5-star and 4-star hotels, up 2.1 percentage points on April 2017. The overall occupancy rate for the month was up 2.8% year-on-year, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) said on Wednesday.
More than 4.5 million guests have stayed in local hotels and guesthouses through the first four months of 2018, up 8.8% year-on-year, with an occupancy rate of 88.9%, up 4.7% year-on-year.
The number of guest rooms increased 6% year-on-year to 39,000, with the number of 5-star hotel rooms rising 7.9% to 24,000, comprising 61.2% of the total.
DSEC also informed that the number of visitors on package tours in Macau in April increased 12.9% year-on-year and 6.2% month-on-month.
Package tour visitors from Mainland China were up 12.2% year-on-year, while those from the Republic of Korea surged 27.8% year-on-year. Visitors on package tours from Taiwan increased 57.5% year-on-year.
In the first four months of 2018, visitors on package tours totalled 2.8 million, up 20.1% year-on-year.
