Macau welcomed 391,000 visitor arrivals over the three-day Labor Day holiday weekend, an increase of 4.7% over 2017 numbers, according to figures provided by the Public Security Police Force.
The vast majority of those, 361,000, came from the Greater China markets including a 16.1% increase in visitors from mainland China. Visitation from Hong Kong and Taiwan fell 24.1% and 19.5% respectively.
The average occupancy rate of hotels during the Labor Day holiday was 94.3% –down slightly by 0.2% compared to 2017 – while the average room rate declined 4% to MOP$1,612.50.
The number of guest rooms in Macau grew by 6.4% over the past 12 months to 39,000.
